Puffing Billy Excursion

The Year 1 students finally got to go on their first excursion to Puffing Billy, after 2 cancellations.  The students were so excited and all had an absolutely amazing day.

Please enjoy the lovely video above of their day prepared for you by Miss Murnane.

After Puffing Billy the Year 1's enjoyed visiting the Aviation Museum in Moorabbin.

This was a 'real hands-on' experience for the children.

MINI METRIC OLYMPICS

With all the excitement of the Tokyo Olympics Grade One decided to run our own Mini Metric Olympics which both students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed!

Students completed a rotation of four different activities. Shot put, 100m sprint, long jump and how many bounces they could complete in 1 minute using a basketball. Each student had to estimate how far they could throw and jump, how quickly they could run and how many bounces they could complete.

They learnt to use measuring tapes, meter wheels and stop watches to measure and record their data accurately. This was a great opportunity for each student to grasp a deeper understanding of estimating and measuring units of length while having a great time outside participating in their own version of the Olympics!
