Continuous Online Reporting

In 2015 Lilydale High School is changing the way in which teachers provide formalised feedback to parents and students.  We are moving from the traditional Interim Progress Reports and summative End-of-Semester Reports to Continuous Online Reporting. 

 

With our move to Compass, teachers now have the capacity to provide you and your child with immediate and continuous online feedback of set Learning Tasks.  After the completion of a Common Assessment Task, your child’s teacher will provide you and your child with specific feedback via Compass.  This feedback includes assessing how your child approaches their learning, the development of their work habits, the skills they have developed and strategies your child could implement in order to improve their learning. 

 

Continuous Online Reporting ensures that you and your child are receiving vital feedback throughout the semester, rather than having to wait until the End-of-Semester Report to be written and released.  It also enables you to track changes or improvements in your child’s progress throughout the semester with their work and study habits, approaches to learning and skill development. 

 

Furthermore, given the feedback is provided soon after assessment has been undertaken in the classroom, it ensures that improvement strategies suggested for your child can be implemented at your child’s point of need.  This also provides you with the ability to contact your child’s teachers at the relevant stage in your child’s learning to discuss their progress and any learning or organisational strategies that have been suggested for implementation. 

 

Given that each subject your child studies has unique requirements and assessment periods, feedback via the Compass Continuous Online Reporting system will vary slightly from subject to subject.  Furthermore, the Common Assessment Task feedback will be posted at various stages throughout the semester and will therefore require you and your child to regularly log into Compass to access this feedback throughout the semester.  

 

At the end of the semester a printable version of the feedback provided by your child’s teachers will form an end of semester report.
