SCHOOL CAPTAINS
The school captain team has introduced a new event to commence a year of inspiration and learning. 'Soapbox' is a lunchtime activity where selected students and teachers will discuss their incredible achievements and intriguing life experiences.
We invite students and teachers with interesting stories to approach school captains, and encourage all students to attend our first session on Tuesday 10 March at lunchtime in the Middle School Quadrangle (weather permitting).

YEAR 11 CAPTAINS
It has been a very positive and enthusiastic start into VCE. We are all settling in well in our blue uniform. Now that we are at the pointy end of our education, here at Lilydale High School, we are all starting to knuckle down and strive for good results.
We wish everyone a successful and enjoyable year where we can achieve all our goals and build strong relationships.

PERFORMING ARTS
The PAC was bustling with action on Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 February, as new and exciting talent auditioned for the school musical. Auditioning can be a very daunting process and congratulations to everyone who took on this challenge.
Band ensembles are beginning to get into the rhythm of the year and are well under way with their rehearsals. Without music, life would be a ‘B flat’.

VISUAL ARTS
This year the Visual Arts captains would like to introduce a Mentoring program for younger students during lunchtime. This will teach students the fundamental basics of drawing and how to further enhance their artistic ability. Also teaching students how to use other mediums such as oil paints, inks, pastel pencils etc. Each week students are given the opportunity to explore different art styles and given guidance on how to achieve a range of styles. More information will be provided at a later date.

SPORT
The annual Lilydale High School House Swimming Carnival took place on Friday 27 February. Many staff and students were in the right carnival mood, with colourful costumes and lots of team spirit.
The day began with a bang with students coming off the blocks with all guns blazing, representing their house with confidence and great determination. This was a pattern that continued throughout the day, with each race a closely fought affair, ensuring a very close finish when the points were tallied for the overall result.
