Principal's Report

Twilight School

Next Wednesday we will be holding our Twilight School.  This is an important date on our calendar as we open our school to our local community and encourage current and prospective parents, friends and grandparents. Feedback from previous years is that this is a highlight for our students and families.

STUDENTS SHOULD ARRIVE AT SCHOOL AT 11.45am , ready for a 12pm start.  If your child needs to arrive at school earlier than this time, please contact the office to enrol them in our Before Twilight School Care program.  This will cost families $5 per child to attend and must be pre-booked.

The day will end at 6.30pm, please be prompt to collect your child at this time.  Students must be signed out of their classroom at the end of the day. We recognise that families may have other commitments on this day, and understand that students may need to be collected from school early.  If so, please ensure that students are signed out at the office before they are collected.

We are running a normal school day, so come along and see your child's experience of the wonderful programs we run here at Kilsyth Primary School.

The timetable for the day will be:

Student Attitudes to School Survey

WE WANT OUR STUDENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK

We value student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing and quality instruction and are conducting a survey to find out what your child thinks of our school. The Attitudes to School survey is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education and Training to assist schools in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Our school will use the survey results to plan programs and activities to improve your child's schooling experience.

Students from Year 4 to  6 at our school will participate in the survey. Your child will complete the survey online during school hours using a purpose built secure online survey tool.  It is important to note that we are not in any way “testing” your child. Your child has the right to refuse or withdraw from the survey at any point before, during, or after completion of the survey.

Your child will be provided with a unique login to complete the survey. The student login is an assigned identifier that may be used by the Department to combine data for research purposes only. Your child’s privacy and the confidentiality of your child’s survey responses will be protected at all times. No identifiable personal data is included in the survey response file.

The survey results will be reported back to the school in term 3. No student can be identified in the results reported to schools or in any other report of the data. We use this data to gauge our teaching and learning programs, our wellbeing responses and the general climate amongst the students.

Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information or visit the Department of Education and Training website:

ANZAC Day

We are so proud of our Student Representative Council who did us proud attending the School's ANZAC service at the Shrine at the end of last term.  The respect our students showed was wonderful.   It was terrific that our students could participate in such an important and significant event.  The sacrifice and love shown by not only those who gave their lives, but for some their health and for most their innocence is something that we are all grateful for.  We honour those who made this sacrifice and remember them.

With respect...

Daniel
