TERM 1

Three Way Conferencing

A reminder to parents/carers that our Three Way Conferences are next Tuesday 12 March.

The aim, this early in the year, is to exchange information that will assist your child to have a successful year of learning. Bookings can be accessed via Compass, please call the sub schools if you require assistance.

Swimming Sports

The recent swimming sports were a tremendous success with many of our students performing exceptionally well in the pool and enjoying a fun day with their peers.

Thanks to everyone for a great day.  Special thanks to Head of Sport, Paul Hager for his impeccable organisation of the entire event.

The students were exceptionally well behaved and took every opportunity to be involved in the day’s activities.

Child Safe Standards

Legislation was introduced in 2017 that required all organisations who have children in their care, to demonstrate, through policy and practice, that they have consistent processes for preventing and responding to allegations of child abuse.

Our policy and codes of conduct can be found on our website. Information can also be accessed by clicking on the link to the Commission for Children and Young people: https://ccyp.vic.gov.au/child-safety

Pivot Feedback

One of our School Strategic Plan goals is to increase student voice and agency at all year levels.

A new internal online platform provides students with the opportunity to give feedback to teachers in relation to the teaching and learning program.   This process will begin soon in many classes across the school.

Teachers are looking forward to the feedback that will guide them to assist every student with their learning.

Securing Lockers

A recent audit of the locker rooms uncovered many lockers that did not have a combination lock on them. This poses two major problems; student valuables are not able to be secured (including mobile phones) and the likelihood of damage in the locker rooms increases when doors are swinging open. Please assist us by ensuring your child has a lock.

Locker Coordinator, Jamie Pointon can be contacted in relation to any locker issues.

Centenary Activities

A reminder that the Centenary Dinner for past LHS students, will be held on Saturday March 30, at the Karralyka Centre in Ringwood.  Details can be found on the school website.

Lynda Carroll, our historian and author, is putting the finishing touches to the book that details the history of LHS.  She is interested in hearing from any students who graduated in the 2000’s who may want to contribute to the final chapter.

Please contact me on 9735 5644 if you would like to find out more.

And finally.....

Humanities teacher Kristy Mays and her Year 11 History students attended Melbourne Museum last Thursday.   Whilst travelling on the train, a member of the public approached Kristy to let her know that our students had been the ‘best group of kids she had ever travelled with by train’.

A well deserved compliment.  Thanks to the class and Kristy for representing LHS in such a positive manner.
