REPTILE HOUSE

New Students and New Babies Reptiles

It's been a busy start to the year with more than 70 new Year 7’s signing up as rookie Zoo Keepers, snakes and lizards hatching out, baby stumpy tail lizards being born and baby frogs morphing from tadpoles.

The Year 7’s are an enthusiastic group that are getting right in there and giving everything a go. Whether it’s feeding crickets to gluttonous frogs, preparing perfectly balanced diets for our lizards, measuring temperatures with thermal guns, cleaning enclosures so they shine, the students have been working very hard to gain experience and get that little bit closer to joining  the Zoo Keeper team.

We have been very excited recently to welcome some new babies to our collection including; morphed Green Tree Frogs, White-lipped Tree Frogs, Green and Golden Bell Frogs, super cute and rare Goldfield Stumpy Tails, a Gidgee Skink, Children’s Pythons and Stimson’s Pythons.

These and many more animals and LHS students attended this year’s Reptile and Amphibian Expo at the Melbourne Showgrounds on Saturday 2 March.  Students presented to the public, helped display the animals and spoke  about all their great work they do in the Reptile House.   LHS WON 'Best Stand' at the Expo!
