TAS with Mrs Lynch

Year 11 Hospitality

Year 11 Hospitality have been working towards earning their first two units of competency - 'Use hygiene practices for food safety' and 'Use food preparation equipment'. They have demonstrated excellent skills in the kitchen, practicing their precision cuts and knife skills as well as becoming acquainted with a range of food preparation techniques. Delicious dishes including Brushetta on Turkish, San Choy Bow, Mini Bacon and Chive Tartlets and Star Anise Custard with Fruit Salad and Meringues have been successfully created in the kitchen.

 

Year 10 Food Technology

Year 10 Food Technology have been completing their unit on 'Food for Specific Needs'. We have been exploring nutritional requirements throughout the lifecycle and the circumstances that lead to specific food needs. We have prepared a range of dishes for those with specific food needs, including a delicious gluten-free pineapple upside down cake, pumpkin sage and chickpea sausage rolls and butter chicken with rice.

 

Year 9 Food Technology

Food in Australia is the first unit that we have been studying in Year 9 Food Technology. Students have enthusiastically participated in practical lessons and have made Johnny Cakes, Gourmet Sausage Sandwiches and Bush Spice Burritos. We have been learning about traditional bush tucker foods and the evolution of Australian cuisine.

 

Year 8 Technology Mandatory - Textiles

The sound of sewing machines buzzing has been coming from our D&T room as Year 8 Technology have been developing their skills in safely using the sewing machine to perform a range of skills. In the coming weeks, we will learn various decorative techniques that will then be used to make a 'snack pillow'.

 

Year 7 Technology Mandatory - Agriculture and Food

Year 7 have been very busy, learning their way around the kitchen and developing their skills. They have prepared delicious Salad Wraps, Mini Quiches and Smoothie Bowls. As well as this they have been busy in the garden, planting and caring for a variety of herbs and vegetables that we will then be able to use in the kitchen.
