Repentance, Patience & Growth

This week's Gospel steers us toward the invitation of serious contemplation of conscience. The parable of the fig tree within Luke's narrative alerts us to thoughts about how we go about repenting and demonstrating patience, just like the vineyard owner and ultimately our God.

The Word gives us the opportunity to search our hearts and identify and remove the stumbling blocks to welcome the Good News and clear the way to true discipleship. We can nurture our faith and growth by asking ourselves the following questions:

What needs to be pruned away in my life?

How am I allowing God to transform my life during this Lenten season?

The parable of the fig tree shows us that God is tending to humanity. He is still hoping we will bear fruit.

Caritas Kilometres

Last week, the Mini Vinnies Team launched a fundraising initiative called 'Caritas Kilometres' which aims at raising funds for those in the Ukraine through the work of Caritas, a Catholic organisation which promotes events such as Project Compassion during the Lenten Season. The Mini Vinnies designed posters and spoke with students of each class explaining this special school event. A letter was also sent home to families outlining the event as well as including the sponsorship and donation form for each student. Please check your child's school bag for this letter.

Our quest is for students to collect funds with the help of their family and friends over the next few weeks which will then culminate in a walkathon around our school oval on the first day of school in Term 2, which also happens to be our Alleluia Day celebration rejoicing in the Risen Christ.

We would like the Caritas Kilometres to be a school community event whereby families are welcome to join us for the walk. Details about the walkathon timeline will be shared with families in the upcoming weeks.

Easter Raffle

It is that time of year when we prepare for our annual Easter Raffle. A letter was sent home yesterday, outlining the details. There will be a casual clothes day this Friday 25th March allowing students to come in free dress, bringing along an Easter Egg on this day. These Easter Egg donations will allow us to develop the prizes for the Easter Raffle which will be drawn on the last day of term.

We hope families will once again support this school event as they have done so generously in the past.

Even our 'resident bunny' has come out in support of this event. I spotted it early one morning grazing beside the the Community Hub!!

I will be asking for volunteers to assist in the development of the Easter Raffle Prizes so if you are available, please contact me. More information about Volunteer Workshops can be found in the Deputy Principal Section of the newsletter.

Be nurtured and grow.
