Student Wellbeing

What makes Greenhills GREAT!

At Greenhills, we pride ourselves on the connections our staff make with the students and the wider community. Our Greenhills start up program that we begin the year with is designed around building this connection. We put time and effort into setting up our classroom routines and expectations, as we know that students feel more comfortable in a place that is orderly and an environment, they feel safe in.

Relationships are the key to our success at Greenhills. Connections between students and their teacher is what makes our school a great place to be. From the start of the year, teachers get to know their students as a person and as a learner. We set up regular check-ins with students, to get to know them better but also to gauge how they are going socially, academically and most of all their all-round wellbeing. Having a relationship with a trusted adult at school ensures that students feel comfortable and ready to learn.

The next focus is on the connections between the students. We use a range of team building experiences and group work opportunities as a way to support student connections. Students take on a range of roles inside these groups, which allows them to experience success and challenges, and provide them with strategies and support to overcome these obstacles.

The connection between our school community is one that we all value. We are so lucky to have a community that are engaged with what we are doing, build partnerships between the home and school and also support in the many events and committees that occur across the school. This impact is seen daily and is often commented on by new families that enter our community.

The joy and excitement we have seen from our students to start the year is definitely a highlight and we can see how connected our school community is. You may have seen the principal team and other staff members out in the yard on a Monday morning doing something silly; limbo, dancing and juggling just to name a few. Feel free to join us in the Monday Madness, if it brings a smile to a few, or makes a student feel a little more connected to our school, then it is certainly worth it!
