School Council Update

Michael Sukkar MP

Last week, Sharon and I had the pleasure of meeting with The Hon. Michael Sukkar MP for Deakin before he presented the Student of the Week awards at assembly. It was an excellent opportunity to talk with him about what makes MPS a fantastic school and learn more about his Deakin electorate and his current portfolios. We were also able to to show Michael the site we are proposing a new junior playground at the front of the school - we are working closely with his office on an application for this to be funded under his Building Stronger Communities fund. Watch this space!

School Council AGM

A reminder that our School Council Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 28th March at 7pm, and all members of the school community are invited to attend. As part of it, we will be determining our sub-committees for the year. Joining a sub-committee is an excellent way to contribute to the school, and is open to all members of the school community regardless of whether they are on School Council. We will provide an update in the next newsletter about how you can join in.

Working Bees

We have two working bees coming up and it would be amazing to see as many families there as possible please:

Thursday 30th March and Tuesday 4th April from 3.30 – 5.30pm

Tasks are adding mulch to garden beds and playgrounds, weeding, picking up rubbish and generally tidying of the school grounds. No tools required, just garden gloves!! Everyone who attends will receive a free icy pole at the end.

These working bees are particularly important as we head into Term 2 where we have potential families touring the school.

MPS in the Community

School Council continues to work hard to promote our amazing school to the local community – it was fantastic to see so many of our community (including the choir!) at the Heathmont Family Fun Day recently, and to also talk to prospective families.

A massive thank you to all families that supported the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle by visiting or by volunteering their time – again, it was great to see our school promoted out in the community.

Cheers,

Clare
