Careers Corner

Year 9

Our Year 9 students recently had the opportunity to attend their one-on-one interview to receive their results of the Morrisby Profile, which they completed earlier this term. Morrisby is a career guidance tool which is used to support our students in learning more about their interests, aptitudes and personality and which subjects and careers are closely matched to them. The Year 9 students provided some great feedback about their experiences from Morrisby, as well as their results.

Year 10 – Work Experience

All Year 10 students have recently been emailed information about the Work Experience Program for 2023. This year, students will have the opportunity to choose between attending camp or participating in work experience during the week of 16th – 20th October 2023.

If anyone within the school community knows of an organisation that would be willing to take on Year 10 students who are passionate and excited about participating in work experience this year, please feel free to call me at the school, or alternatively you can email me at heather.palm@education.vic.gov.au

Years 11 & 12

All of our Year 11 and 12 students are currently preparing to attend the VCE and Careers Expo excursion to Caulfield Racecourse on Friday 5th May. This is a great opportunity for our students to speak directly with Universities, TAFEs, private institutes, employers, and many other exhibitors in regards to their future careers and study options. Students are also able to attend seminars on the day to learn more about VCE exam preparation and specific career pathways.

UCAT ANZ

Applications are now open for students to register for the University Clinical Aptitude Test for Australia and New Zealand (UCAT ANZ.) The UCAT is an admissions test used for university entry into select medical, dental, and clinical science degree courses.

The test helps universities to select applicants with the most appropriate abilities and professional behaviours required for new doctors and dentists to be successful in their clinical careers. It is used in collaboration with other admissions processes such as interviews and academic qualifications.

Please note that some pathways into medicine / dentistry / clinical sciences will not require the UCAT ANZ. For some applications, a different test may be required, these details will be available direct on the university websites.

A UCAT ANZ preparation plan video is available to watch here. Further details regarding dates and fees are available here.  A free UCAT practice exam is available for download here.

For UCAT sample questions, as well as additional advice on where to start and information on choosing a university, you can find further information here.
