From the Deputy

  Mr Anthony Speranza

Dear families,

St Patrick's Day, Friday 17th March

Tomorrow is St Patrick's Day, and students are welcome to wear a touch of green or a green accessory to school.

Harmony Day, Tuesday 21st March

Next week is Harmony Day, a celebration of Australia’s cultural diversity. In schools we celebrate inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for all Australians, from the traditional custodians of the land to those who have come from many countries around the world. The ongoing theme of Harmony Week is “everyone belongs”. Harmony Week is a time of cultural respect for all.

Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. On Tuesday 21st March, students may wear a touch of orange for supporting a cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia. This could be an accessory, head piece, additional item of clothing, or maybe a pair of socks. Please note that the school uniform is still to be worn on this day.

ICT Information Evening, Year 3 to 6 parents and carers online

A reminder that there will be an ICT Information Evening for parents and carers on Thursday 23rd March at 7pm online. A link will be sent to year 3 to 6 families early next week via Seesaw, as it relates to the 1-to-1 Laptop Program. Family partnership is essential in the success of this program, and we look forward to as many families as possible joining with us.

Ride To School Day Friday 31st March

We will be celebrating Ride2School Day on Friday 31st March. We would love our school community to Ride, Scoot, Skate or Walk their way to school as much as possible without the use of cars on this day. Students and parents are welcome to join us at 8.20am for a light breakfast (fruit and toast) and have a go at making their very own healthy smoothie using a “smoothie bike!”. City of Port Phillip Council will be in attendance and we are hoping to have a few e-cargo bikes on display which will be offered to families as a trial in Term 2.

Students are welcome to wear an accessory or decorate their helmet, bike or scooter and participate in a parade at 8:55.

Parent & Carer friendly soccer match

We had a great turn up to our soccer match last night on the Alma Park courts. Thank you to all of the players for putting on the entertainment and to the supportive crowd, and also the P&F for co-ordinating the sausages and drinks. We look forward to another great event later in the year.

Hot Cross Bun Drive and Easter Raffle

With Easter fast approaching, the school has issued two flyers this week to the community through the P&F.  All money raised continues to go towards technology and garden resources.

Hot Cross Buns can be ordered through Hawksburn Bakers Delight. Orders are due by Friday 31st March. Hot Cross Buns will be delivered to the school and distributed to families on Thursday 6th April.

Our annual Easter raffle takes place on the last Thursday of Term.  Donations and contributions towards the raffle hampers can be dropped off at the school office before Friday 31st March. For any ticket purchases please complete the ticket details and enclose them with money inside an envelope and drop them into the school or classroom.
