Eco Day | Saving Masks & Plastics from Landfill!
The week of 7 – 13 November is National Recycling Week – and to celebrate FPS is holding an Eco Day on Thursday 10 November.
On this day, students and staff are invited to wear green, and, after lunch, students will participate in activities that focus on recycling.
Activities will be conducted in mixed year level groups (like Book Week) and students will explore what we can do at school to reduce, reuse and recycle – and minimise our waste.
Masks
Many thanks to the FPS community for recycling so many disposable masks across this year. Our school saved 1,660 (or 5kg) of masks from landfill. The masks have been sent to TerraCycle to participate in a new recycling experiment to strengthen concrete.
Project Pair Up
Project Pair Up has been going well at FPS. In this initiative, we encourage families to look in your cupboards at home for any mismatched lids or containers and bring them into school, to hopefully be matched with a pair and rehomed.
Place your ‘lid-less containers’ and ‘lids-without-a-mate’ in the large recycling box by the main school office.
