Art

Students have been steadily working on their Kaylene Whiskey inspired art works. Kaylene is an indigenous artist that uses cultural images and contemporary pop images to create her comic style artworks. The kids have loved learning about her life and influences. Students in prep, one and two have painted life size superhero portraits. Three to six students are creating the most amazing drawings and paintings based on their personal research.

One of the highlights for grade six students in art has been our excursion to Tarrawarra Museum with the multi age kids. Students learnt about contemporary artists who have specifically observed humanity's relationship to the environment. We also used viewfinders to create observation drawings of the beautiful gardens surrounding the museum.

Grade six students have also begun working on their graduation toys.

Students have provided some feedback on their experiences in the art room this year.

"I really loved needle felting our soft toys as that was so much fun. I also loved learning about KAWS."

Craft

Students are reaching the end of their craft projects by staying focused and demonstrating  great perseverance.

Foundation and Class One have completed their poms and have made a start on god's eyes and other holiday decorations.

Class Two and Three are steadily working through their knitting with many students demonstrating incredible skill and determination to get their knitting done.

Classes Four to Six have almost completed their soft toys and are stuffing them and adding further embellishments such as hair and features.

Class six students are working on their graduation canvas people. These are going to be painted with fabric paint and clothed in whatever style the student chooses.
