Year 6

Buddy Time

As we come to the end of our Year 6 journey, we are finding every moment with our buddies precious. Using this time to play, laugh, smile and enjoy time with the future St James leaders. We teach one another lessons, remind ourselves how to have some fun playing (offline) and demonstrate leadership in the way we model; sharing, negotiation and inclusiveness. We share in reading with Year 6 reading first, the Foundation reading second. Afterwards, we get to enjoy our time together playing with Lego, blocks, playdough, coloring, board games, hide and seek, dominoes, Twister and dolls.

These are precious moments we won’t forget!

Year 3/4

Remembrance Day

In 3 /4 the children have been remembering all the special people and pets in their lives.

We remember grandparents, cousins, dogs, cats and anything that we miss in our lives.

In class, we have created a remembrance box where children in the class have written down special people/pets that are no longer with us but we remember in our hearts.

Today is Remembrance Day where we remember people who have served in war and kept us safe.  A symbol of this day is a red poppy.  The children have used this symbol to create a display.

3/4 Biological Science

This term, the 3/4 children have been learning about ‘Biological Science’.

Children have looked at both plant and animal life cycles. They have grown a bean plant from a seed and described the changes that have occurred over time.

Everyone has thoroughly enjoyed growing a bean plant.

Great Job everyone!

I asked the children about their plant and growing their bean from a seed.

This is what they said:

Viv- I love seeing the roots grow.

Tilly- I love seeing the changes each day.

Lucia- I loved the suspense of waiting for them to sprout.

Ivy- They grew really fast.

Iris- Being excited to see the growth each day.

Nic- My plant is growing.

Samaira - I love seeing them grow.

Harry - Watching how something different happened every day.

Madelyn - I liked drawing the picture of the plant in my Biological Science journal.

Toby- I liked transplanting the plants from the cotton wool balls to soil.

Grace- I liked seeing the changes each day.

Jack - I like measuring the height of my plants.

Victoria - Each day the leaves get bigger.

Saxon - I love watering them. It’s calming.

Tilayo - I liked transplanting the seedling to soil.

Evie - Yesterday I had two that were 15 centimetres tall and today I have three that are between 15 and 20 centimteres tall.
