For those families who celebrated Diwali recently, we hope that you enjoyed your celebrations and we wish you joy, happiness and prosperity. There have been a number of students in the school who have been sharing their celebration stories enthusiastically! They have been wonderful to hear.
For those who are not sure what the celebration of Diwali is about here is a brief summary:
- Diwali is the main celebration that is acknowledged by Hindus across the world. It is widely believed that Diwali is the day when the Hindu Goddess of prosperity, Maa Lakshmi travels to the Earth and blesses the people with joy, happiness and prosperity.
- It is a 5 day long celebration. It begins with Dhanteras and finishes with Bhaiya Dooj. Each day teaches something and has particular significance.
- Hindus celebrate by cleaning their houses, lighting diyas and lights, decorating their house with flowers and rangoli patterns and spending time with friends, family and loved ones.
