From the Deputy

  Mr Anthony Speranza

Dear families,

2023 Technology Program, 1-to-1 devices in Years 3 to Year 6

A reminder to families enrolling students in Years 3 to Year 6 in 2023 that we have a student laptop program commencing next year, whereby all students in those year levels will have their own Chromebook to take to and from school. All of the information has been distributed via Seesaw and hardcopy notice.

Orders for devices must be placed by Tuesday 22nd November to ensure delivery and a smooth start to the program in 2023.

If you have any questions regarding the program, please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Daniela Borgese as ICT Leader.

Posischools

We are very excited to have launched the PosiSchools programme at our school. Over the next few weeks, students in Years Prep to Year 6 will be engaging in a variety of short activities designed to teach core concepts associated with wellbeing, to help them build positive habits for life. Students will learn that positive emotions relating to wellbeing can be grown and developed.

The topics for each year level are as follows:

Prep / Year 1: Gratitude

Year 2: Curiosity

Year 3: Connection

Year 4: Caring

Year 5: Mindset

Year 6: Mindfulness

Included in the PosiSchools program is a pair of colourful PosiSocks for each student. PosiSocks was founded with the idea that an everyday action, such as putting on your socks, could become a trigger for setting a more positive mindset. Therefore, students will be encouraged to focus on the sayings on the socks as they put them on in the morning and to use these words to help them ‘Start the Day on the Right Foot’. Students are invited to wear them every Friday until the end of November.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact these next 21 days have on our school community. Thank you for your support as, together, we seek to guide and support our children to live flourishing lives.

Art Showcase, Monday 7th to Wednesday 9th November, 3:30pm to 4:00pm

Our annual Art Showcase will be taking place from Monday 7th to Wednesday 9th November. Families and students are invited to walk through the classrooms from the Monday to Wednesday after dismissal at 3:30pm to 4:00pm to view and celebrate the student’s creativity, curiosity and persistence in the Visual Arts program this year.

We thank our art teacher Mrs Renehan and all classroom teachers in assisting with all of the wonderful displays which have been organised around the school.

Please consider joining us for our Official Opening Ceremony at 3:20pm on Monday 7th November on the Main Campus courts.

Calling all families and volunteers to help move furniture to donate to schools in Fiji, Wednesday 16th November from 9am.

St Mary’s has engaged with a charity to re-purpose our previously used school furniture to donate to schools in the Bua province in Fiji, and a truck will be arriving on Wednesday 16th November.

We would appreciate any assistance for a few hours from 9am in moving furniture downstairs from the Parish Hall. If you are able to help please contact Anthony Speranza.
