Presentation Day

Our 2022 Presentation Day will be held on Friday 9th December here at school as follows:

11.00am - Presentation Day Assembly

12.15pm - BBQ Lunch (Provided by the P&C)

1.00pm - School Concert - The Wizard of Oz

We invite everyone to come along and join us for the day. Just so the P&C committee has a rough idea on how many people may require lunch, please complete the information form distributed earlier this week.

We will be handing out our end of year prizes and presenting our new, incoming school captains with their badges.  These will be presented by Mr Adam Marshall, MP.

All students must be in full school uniform on this day.  Year 6 students must wear formal uniform.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many organisations, our P&C, families and individual people who kindly donate a prize each year for our students.  This is much appreciated by our school community.

Out of Uniform Day (Thursday 8th December)

Students are welcome to wear mufti on Thursday 8th December, the day before presentation day, to ensure all uniforms are ready for Friday.  We will also hold an out of uniform day on the last day of school. See further information below.

Wizard of Oz Dress Rehearsal

Next Thursday, we will be holding a full dress rehearsal of our upcoming performance, The Wizard of Oz. Please make sure that students have their full costumes ready at school next Thursday the 8th of December in a labeled bag.  We are inviting our Thunderbolt Alliance schools as well as some residents from McMaugh Gardens to preview our production.

Organisation for Week 10 Due to Power Upgrade

The last week of school for 2022 is Monday 12th to Friday 16th December.  During this week, the school will have a much needed power upgrade over three days on Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th and Friday 16th December.  This will mean we cannot be on-site as there will be no power at the school.  We have organised to use two classrooms at Uralla Central School on these days.

Please see detailed information in the below attachment.  A hard copy of this information was also sent home today with students.

I sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding as I know this situation is not ideal.  Once the power upgrade is complete, the diesel generator will be removed and our power issues will be fixed.  As we have to fit in with Essential Energy and Department of Education Contractors, these times have been fixed.  Please contact me at the school if you have any questions or concerns.  I thank you again for your understanding. By the time all of the planned works are finished, we will end up with a brand new school!

End of Year Lunch/Year 6 Farewell

You will notice on the information above that we plan to have a buffet lunch at the Uralla Bowling Club on the last day of school.  Traditionally, the staff would have lunch with our Year 6 students at school but as we will not be on-site for their last day, we have tried to make their last day even more special.  We are inviting all children, staff and parents of Year 6 children to join us for lunch. The school is able to cover the cost of lunch for all students. Cost for parents of Year 6 students for lunch will be $10 per person.  The Uralla Bowling Club is kindly donating drinks.

Semester 2 Reports

All students will be issued with their semester 2 reports next Wednesday along with their work sample folders. Each report provides an overview of your child's achievement and success during semester 2.  Work sample folders are a sample of work from the various key learning areas.  (If you haven't done so already, please return your semester 1 work sample folders so we can add to them ASAP).  As always, if you have any questions regarding your child's report, or you would like further information about their progress, please contact the school to arrange an appointment.

2023 Swimming Carnival

Our 2023 swimming carnival will be held on Monday 6th February at the Monckton Aquatic Centre in Armidale. We will have detailed information in the first week of next term.  We are asking all parents to take their children to and from the pool as per previous years.

Thank You and Merry Christmas

This is the last newsletter for this year.  I would like to thank you all for your support through what has been another trying year for us all.  COVID was a challenge for 2 years and then who would have thought we would have structural issues, serious enough for us to be provided with a new school? Thank you to our students and staff for the resilience and ability to change and adapt at short notice.  By the end of next year, we should have all works completed and a refurbished building here at school.

I hope all students, staff and families have a well deserved break.  If you are on the roads, please drive carefully and I look forward to working with you all in 2023.

Please note students in years 1-6 commence school on Tuesday 31st January and Kindergarten students commence on Tuesday 7th February.
