Congratulations go to two of our 2022 VCE Music Performance students Eliza Walker and Charlotte Dickinson for exciting news that they have both received this week.
Charlotte Dickinson the 2022 Music Captain has had one of her compositions selected to be performed by the Flinders Quartet at the Melbourne Recital Centre at the Making Waves Performance on Friday 9th December. Not only will the quartet perform her composition but Charlotte will also spend time working with the quartet in rehearsal.
Eliza Walker has been accepted into the Victorian Youth Opera for 2023. Eliza has worked incredibly hard during her secondary school years to develop her vocal skills and has taken up every opportunity that has been given to her.
On Wednesday November 9th the PAC music students headed off to the Mornington Market to perform and raise money for the Australian Children’s Music Foundation. The Australian Children’s Music Foundation (ACMF) is a not-for-profit organisation inspiring creativity and imagination by providing weekly music education classes and instruments to disadvantaged children and youth at risk throughout Australia.
Our students spent term 4 this year rehearsing and preparing their performances in small groups, and busked from 1030 in the morning, right up until 1:00 pm. The performances were well received, with several members of the public commenting on how well behaved and supportive our students were of each other.
Students raised over $150 which was an awesome effort!
Special thanks go to Mr Parsons for organising this wonderful event
This was launched in the Mid-Year Music Concert. The Music Department is planning to raise $5000 to cover the cost of one of these instruments. If you would like to contribute to the Marimba Fundraiser please contact the front office. Families who donate $100 will have one of the Marimba keys named for them.
Follow this link to see the EMC Music Captain Charlotte Dickinson explaining what a marimba is and also performing one of her VCE pieces on her marimba:
