Junior School Athletics Day - Thursday 21st November
After 6 months on maternity leave, it is lovely to rejoin the Deer Park West community and see everyone again. Thank you to everyone for your kind welcomes and messages!
We have some exciting events coming up before the end of the year, in particular for Foundation, Year 1 and 2 students we have the Junior Athletics Day on Monday 21st November. This will take place from 9.00-11.00am and parents and families are welcome to attend to watch and cheer on the children in their fun events.
We would also love some parent/family volunteer helpers to run the events. If you'd like to come and help please speak to your child's teacher as soon as possible.
We encourage all F-2 students to come dressed in their house colours and wear appropriate shoes for running and jumping!

Hello Everyone,
MOSQUITOS
As there has been a lot of rain in recent weeks, mosquitos are starting to breed and be an issue. Some of our classroom areas are experiencing large numbers of mosquitos, both outside and inside. We will be spraying areas in the morning before school to try to keep the mosquitos away.
It would be helpful if your child is experiencing mosquito bites, to use some mosquito repellent before coming to school.
FAMILY WELLBEING
Family violence, also known as domestic violence, can include physical, verbal, sexual or emotional abuse.
Witnessing episodes of violence between people they love can affect young children as much as if they were the victims of the violence. Even very young children can be profoundly frightened and affected.
Children who witness regular acts of family violence have greater emotional and behavioural problems than other children.
The Orange Door is the new access point for women, children and young people who are experiencing family violence or families who need assistance with the care and wellbeing of children to access the services they need to be safe and supported.
For more information, visit The Orange Door website.
WORD OF THE WEEK CHALLENGE
For Week 7, the word that I would like you all to discuss (with your family, friends, classmates, etc) and see how many other words you can think of that have the same or similar meaning is:
times (in connection with maths)
Write down as many words as you can. It doesn’t matter if you think of two words or six words, that’s great! Come share your words with me by 3.30pm on Thursday 17th November.
You could earn a Caught You Doing Right card for demonstrating Collaboration!
Let’s see how many we can collect all together!
