A Path to Follow Youth Mentor Support
A Path to Follow is a mental health program that offers a 'Youth Peer Support Program'. This initiative is based on the principles of early intervention for young people (from grade 5) beginning to experience life challenges. It offers:
- Peer support with young adult peers who have lived experience in managing life challenges.
- Partnerships that are customised, flexible and directed by the younger peer’s needs.
- Connection to the community by participating in peer supported activities within the community
Our Youth Peer Program Workers all have living or lived experience in mental health related challenges and that is the unique part of their support. They are trained and supported to use that experience in guiding a younger peer through their developing challenges in life.
As we approach the end of the year, some students will run toward summer break with huge smiles on their faces and their wellbeing positively intact. Some other students though, may not be approaching summer break quite so optimistically.
