Principals' Update

Week 8

Foundation Transition

Our 2023 Foundation Students attended their final transition session yesterday. All of the children appeared to be happy and excited about coming to school in 2023. During the transition session, we conducted a parent information session for all of our new Foundation  Parents.

Online Safety & Digital Wellbeing Webinar for CNPS Parents/Carers

Thank you to those parents who took the time to attend the online Safety & Digital Wellbeing webinar for all parents and carers on Monday evening. Rebecca Martin and Steve Villani from Evolve Education presented practical strategies to help parents and their children make the most of the online world.

Parents and carers were introduced to skills to:

  • model safer internet practices in the home
  • participate in your child's online world
  • communicate openly about your child's digital life
  • supervise and support

Given the current online climate that our children are navigating, this session was extremely informative for parents and carers.

We hope to see many more parents and carers in attendance at future cyber safety webinars.

Online Safety & Digital Wellbeing Session for Years 3 to 6

In addition to the parent and carer webinar, our students in Years 3 to 6 attended Online Safety and Digital Wellbeing sessions with Rebecca Martin and Steve Villani from Evolve Education. These sessions were extremely engaging and the students were able to contribute and interact with the presenters and their teachers as they talked through strategies to support them online.

Dark Emu: The Book that Changed Australia (working title) for the ABC

We are excited to be welcoming Blackfella Films and Bruce Pascoe onto the school site tomorrow to film a segment for a feature-length documentary about the book Dark Emu: The Book that Changed Australia (working title) for the ABC. Bruce will be reading Young Dark Emu to 34K in the outdoor learning space and engage in a discussion about the book. This film crew will be setting up onsite in the morning before school and filming between 9:00 am and 10:40 am. We are excited to showcase our beautiful school and the work that our Reconciliation Action Plan Team and our Buildings and Grounds Subcommittee have done to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land of CNPS.

Teacher Professional Practice Days (PPD)

The new Victorian Government Schools Agreement states that each teacher is entitled to be released from their scheduled duties including any face-to-face teaching, for three Professional Practice Days in 2022 to focus on the improved delivery of teaching and learning. These days are additional to pupil free days and planning time. The following staff have their PPD days next week and will not be teaching in the classroom on those days:

  • Thursday 1 December - Georgina
