Classroom News

PREP GRADE

Our last week in Prep and we cannot thank our little poppets enough for helping us end with such a bang! We have loved celebrating all the success we have shared this year! In our classroom we have learnt so much! We have learnt to read and write. We can spell words using our phoneme fist and have learnt all the different spelling choices on the THRASS chart. In Maths we have explored numbers all the way up to 100. We can add, subtract, share and compare. We also know all about patterns, shapes, time and measurement.

Gemma and Dani are so proud of each and every one of our Preps.

We have especially loved our excursions and special events including The Messy Patch, Swimming Program, Teddy Bear Picnic and Edward the Emu performance at COPACC.

This week we had Prep/1 fun night where we got to stay back after school and enjoy some fun activities. We had the opportunity to get hair spray, temporary tattoos and nail polish. We also explored our acting and imagination skills with Georgie from Act and Imagine. We finished the evening with chips and potato cakes. Thanks to all the people who helped us out on the night.

Today we enjoyed watching St Mary's Got Talent. Congratulations to Ella, Kariss and Willow who performed this morning and did an amazing job!

We would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a safe and joyful New Year. See you all in 2023.

GRADE 1/2

And just like that, the year is over! We are all extremely tired and excited for the Christmas holidays but we are also sad to be saying goodbye to our amazing students. We cannot wait to see what they do next!

Thank you to all the families who attended Learning Conversations and PSG meetings, it was wonderful being able to celebrate your child's learning with you.

The Prep - Year 1 fun night was a raging success. They enjoyed entertaining acting activities, some hairspray and tattoos, dancing and fun food!

Thank you to the families who attended our end of year liturgy on Wednesday night at the Church. It was a special chance for us to celebrate the year we have had and also to send off our Year 6's and wish them good luck.

This week we also had our 'St Mary's Got Talent' grand final. Congratulations to all the participants and to the Year 6's who organised it all. It was great to see so many different talents.

We hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

GRADE 3/4

We cannot believe we are wrapping up 2022 already. It has been great meeting with parents and students to share learning and discuss growth this year over the past 2 weeks. They are definitely ready for 2023, even if we may not be ready to say goodbye just yet.

We have spent this week revisiting numeracy and literacy skills taught this year with tasks related to Christmas. We have applied comprehension strategies to Christmas stories and practised our number skills with addition and subtraction as well as multiplication and division by cracking codes and doing some colour by numbers.

We organised a little celebration for today to recognise the hard work the 3/4s have done this year with some yummy food and fun.

We will be saying goodbye to Peyton as she moves off to a new school in Geelong. We all wish her the best of luck at her new school and know she will be amazing.

We are also saying goodbye to Amy-Ruth as she continues her learning journey at Nazareth Primary School in Geelong. A great opportunity for her to be closer to home and share her expertise, kindness and compassion with a new school and community.

School will finish at usual time tomorrow afternoon, with buses leaving at 3:05pm and the day ending at 3:15pm.

We wish you all a happy and safe Christmas period with your loved ones and look forward to seeing how tall the children get over their summer break in 2023.

GRADE 5/6

Congratulations to the Year 6 students on their Graduation last night. It was a beautiful celebration and we are very proud of all their hard work and achievements over the year.

The Year 5 students have met their new buddies for 2023 and are getting ready to step up into the role of school leaders next year. Our Year 6 students are getting ready to say goodbye to their buddies and move on to begin the next stage of their learning journey at their respective secondary schools.

Traditionally, the Year 6 students sign each other’s tops on the final day of school. Students will need to bring a texta if they wish to do this tomorrow.

We would like to thank all our wonderful families for your great support over the year and we wish you all a merry Christmas and a safe and relaxing holiday break.
