Welcome back to the library for 2023!
I trust everyone is feeling refreshed and well-read after happy summer holiday time and ready to dive into the new school year with gusto. I'm looking forward to another exciting year of literacy, reading, books and fun in the library in 2023!
Scholastic LOOP Bookclub 2023
Syndal South PS encourages families to support their children's reading and literacy journey and are once again offering Scholastic's LOOP Bookclub for book purchasing in 2023. This initiative provides good quality, competitively priced books for families to buy and at the same time the school is also rewarded (with REWARD points) for each purchase made, which can be used towards books and resources for the library and classes.
Issue 1 of LOOP is now available online here, and paper catalogues will also be distributed to students. (Note: There's been a change to newspaper format for Scholastic's LOOP Bookclub catalogues in 2023). All ONLINE orders for Issue 1 of LOOP bookclub are due on Friday 17th February by 4pm!
Literary Events
World Read Aloud Day is celebrated worldwide on Wednesday 1st February every year and is a great opportunity for teachers, parents and families to read aloud together and enjoy great books, reading and stories with their students, children and family respectively.
Thursday 14th February is Library Lover's Day! Has your library enriched your life in big or small ways? Is your world a better place because of your library? If so, then this Library Lovers’ Day the spotlight is on you, as you put the spotlight on the library you love. It’s time for you to tell the world what only you can do!
Australia Reads presents the Australian Reading Hour 2023
On Thursday 9th March 2023, readers all over Australia will be spending an hour celebrating and sharing the joy of books. This is another great opportunity to read, enjoy great books and stories together, so make and take the time to READ for an hour on 9th March .
CBCA Children's BOOK WEEK is 19th - 25th August 2023
The theme in 2023 is: READ GROW INSPIRE
Notables: announced the last Tuesday in February at 7pm AEDT
Shortlist: announced the last Tuesday in March at 12 noon AEDT
Winners and Honours: announced the third Friday in August at 12 noon AEST
