SSMART ASSK

Last Tuesday 27th of August, the Year Nines were invited to SSMART ASSK, an educational program focusing on the use of drugs and alcohol and their effects on the bodies of today’s youth.

The first few activities we participated in were around drug use, the effects of certain drugs and safe sex. We watched a performance based on a party scene, where the risks of taking drugs and alcohol were demonstrated. We participated in first aid procedures (DRSABCD) to help someone if they were affected by alcohol or drugs. We learnt about standard alcoholic drinks and how this can differ depending on the type of alcohol.

We then visited the Health Centre in Lucas to listen to a sexual health speaker and watch a performance based on teens making informed decisions. Overall the afternoon was very informative and all the activities were fun to partake in.

I  think we all took away some very valuable information that will help us when making decisions in the future.
