Europe Trip

EUROPEAN TOUR 2019

Hello my name is Luca Gioskos

I am one of the 23 students who participated in the Euro Tour 2019 which concluded on the 27th of April .I want to share with you my experience and highlights from each country.

Paris: Wow! Paris was just beautiful. The historical information we had learned in the past was right in front of our face. The Notre Dame and The Arc de Triomphe were just breathtaking.  Let’s not forget about the Louvre and the magnificent Eiffel Tower. I feel as though we developed a significant connection with the Notre Dame, as only a week after seeing it, it went up in flames.

Rome: Being in Rome for only two days was definitely not enough to appreciate what it had to offer. In saying that, seeing the Colosseum and the Vatican City gave us a taste of where we would like to travel in the future. If we had more time in Rome we would have had the opportunity to see a lot more. This city was a favorite on most of our lists list.

Greece: Being in Greece for six days and seeing different cities and villages just showed us how much this great country has to offer. In my opinion Athens was my favorite destination as it felt like it was close to home, as this culture is a part of my heritage. I felt it as ‘The Vibe’. Even though it was busy Athenians are very relaxed and everyone is friendly. When we arrived in Olympia it felt cozy and homely. It may have felt like this as some of us met Melbournians who owned a restaurant in the Town Centre. Everyone would agree that Delphi was just pure beauty. The views from the hotel and the local people gave us all a sense of belonging happiness. And lastly, our visit to Thessaloniki was the closest thing I compared to what we see in Melbourne.

Macedonia: Arriving in Bitola and seeing the ruins in Hereclea was again an educational experience for us. For the three hours we were in Bitoal we saw and walked through Shirok Sokak and the the old Bazar. We had lunch in Bitola and felt like we were at home. The locals made us feel like we were one of their own. We proceeded our travels and arrived in Ohrid in the evening. This picturesque city literally took many of our breaths away. Ohrid is built on this amazing lake called Lake Ohrid. Our hotel was situated where we had an s amazing view of the lake and mountains in the distance. Our last destination was Skopje. Again this city was amazing. We saw more archaeological sites, Memorial House of Mother Teresa, sports stadiums, old bazars, shopping centers and much more.

Overall, this was an amazing experience and would recommend it to anyone. All teenagers should be able to go and experience what ‘all ‘did as there is more to life than the basic things we do every day.

There is a whole world out there with endless opportunities and possibilities!

I am one of the teachers who attend the European Tour, 2019. This tour provided students with a chance to work with adults, build stronger relationships, value experiential learning and acquire a fresh prospective. On a personal level it was my pleasure to be able to develop a special bond with all of the students who attended, in an informal setting.
