Koomurri Incursion

On the 18th July 2023 St Johns Park Public School enjoyed the Koomurri Incursion. On this day the Koomurri Aboriginal Group visited our school.  Students came to school wearing black, yellow or red to celebrate this special day. The day began with a traditional smoking ceremony, before students participated in a number of Indigenous activities.  These included face painting, looking at ancient artefacts, boomerang throwing, dancing, didgeridoo music and listening to Dreamtime stories. All the students and teachers were able to enjoy and participate in all the days many events. A final farewell with another smoking ceremony ended a wonderful day.
