Early Learning Matters Week
‘Learning Through Connection’
24-28 July 2023
Early Learning Matters Week, organised by Early Childhood Australia, brings together early childhood educators, families, carers and community members around Australia to raise awareness and understanding of the importance of early learning in supporting children to reach their potential.
Early Learning Matters Week recognises and raises the profile of early childhood education and care in children’s development and wellbeing in Australia. Positive environments where children can learn, grow and develop self-worth are crucial to support each child, families and strong communities.
This is an opportunity to share with our communities how high-quality early education and care supports children to be confident, enthusiastic learners, building a foundation for wellbeing and achievement throughout their lives, and all of this through a quality play-based curriculum.
The theme for Early Learning Matters Week 2023 is ‘Learning Through Connection’, celebrating the connections that are fostered in early learning settings and within communities across the country.
At St Johns Park Public School, we recognise the value of having a preschool within our school which provides early childhood education and care for children the year before school. Our preschool’s play-based curriculum fosters each child’s emerging skills, setting a foundation for lifelong growth, learning and success.
Through play, the children are fostered to learn and grow through hands on experiences, building relationships with others, exploring, experimenting and questioning their world. Having our preschool situated within the school allows the children to experience the life of our school and participate within it. This supports a smooth transition to school as they become confident and involved learners.
This Early Learning Matters Week we encourage you to recognise the value of the education and care provided within our preschool and all early childhood services within our community. And to celebrate the value of this for your child and others within our school and beyond.
EARLY LEARNING REALLY DOES MATTER!
