Principal's Report

Dear Families,

Welcome to our Curriculum Newsletter for Term 3. Please take some time to have a close look at the learning and teaching that is set for the coming term. Our teachers and leaders take great care and time to reflect on student assessment and data when planning lessons to ensure all our students remain engaged.

Thank you to all our community for another wonderful week at our school.

Prep 2024 Enrolments: UPDATE

If you know of families or friends with children who will be starting prep in 2024 can you please remind them to contact our school and seek a tour and an application form.

3 Way Conferences and Student Portfolios:

A friendly reminder that we sent out a post last week regarding parent/carer survey to get some feedback regarding our 3 Way Conferences/Parent Teacher Discussions.

Please see the information below:

We are interested in getting our community's feedback in regards to the format of both discussions - 3 Way Conferences - Years 1-6 and Parent/Teacher discussions (Preps). Please find the link here

Your engagement with this survey will assist us with our preparations for the next time we do these. This survey will take you 5 minutes to complete. Can this survey please be completed by Friday July 28th, 2023.

Student Portfolios:

A friendly reminder that all Student Portfolios are due back to school by Friday 28th July, 2023. We sincerely hope that all our families have had a good opportunity to take a closer look at student work samples and engage in a deeper conversation regarding the work students completed over the past semester.

Can all families please complete the reflection sheet provided and return together with Student Portfolios to school by Friday July 28th.

NAPLAN:

NAPLAN results for students in Years 3 and 5 have now arrived at our school. Parents/Carers of students in Year 3 and 5 can collect their child’s NAPLAN results (hard copies) from our front office from Monday 24th July, 2023. Please Note all NAPLAN results will be held at our front office for collection for the next two weeks. Please collect your child’s NAPLAN results by Friday 4th of August 2023.

In the envelope together with your child’s NAPLAN results parents/carers will find a NAPLAN pamphlet titled: NAPLAN individual student report – Information for Parents/Carers. Please take some time to read through the pamphlet to gain a full understanding of the new way in which the results are presented.

There are some changes to this year’s reporting which have been introduced nationally by the Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA). NAPLAN will continue to measure student achievement in numeracy, reading, writing, spelling, and grammar and punctuation but the results will now be presented in 4 proficiency levels: exceeding; strong; developing; needs additional support. Students’ NAPLAN reports will continue to show how they are tracking against their peers and provide an indication of their skill levels against national averages and where we would expect them to be in order to get the most out of schooling. It also provides valuable information to teachers about how we can continue to support your child.

Each set of NAPLAN results is an important milestone but it’s also important that students know that one result does not define them – these results are about making sure every student gets the support they need so they can continue to get the best from their learning. If you have any questions about these changes or your child’s results, please contact your child’s teacher or a member of the Principal Class team.

Warmest Regards,
