Christian Life
In Term 3, students in Years 7-9 are participating in Christian Life lessons focusing on spiritual growth, character development, and life skills.
In the first unit, "Spiritual Growth - Who is Jesus?" we focus on the identity of Jesus, known by various names, including Rabbi, Messiah, Father, Lord and Saviour. While we may not know His physical appearance, we encourage students to draw closer to Jesus by reflecting on His question, "Who do you say I am?". The unit comprises four lessons: understanding Jesus as the promised Saviour and fulfillment of prophecies, recognising Him as a compassionate Friend, embracing Him as the ruler and authority, and reflecting on our personal response to His identity.
"Character Development - Forgiveness," is the second unit. It emphasises the significance of forgiveness as a profound gift from God through Jesus. By learning from Jesus' example, students will be given the opportunity to understand the true meaning of freedom and peace. The lessons explore the importance of forgiving others and seeking forgiveness, acknowledging that forgiveness is a learned discipline requiring time and practice. The four lessons within this unit discuss how forgiveness brings freedom from resentment, provides relief from past hurts, fosters potential for reconciliation and restoration and brings transformative power to our lives and those around us.
We finish the term with, "Life Skills - Anger Management", which addresses the natural emotion of anger and its potential consequences. Students will be taught ways to control and channel their anger constructively, avoiding impulsive decisions. They will explore how godly anger can lead to a deeper connection with God and fellow believers. The lessons within this unit focus on discovering the role of godly anger, learning to release and prevent harmful effects of anger, developing Christ-like responses to anger-triggering situations and acquiring skills to manage anger in healthy ways.
Throughout these lessons, our aim is to nurture your children's spiritual growth, character development, and essential life skills, giving them the opportunity to develop into compassionate and responsible individuals. We encourage you to engage with them at home to reinforce these essential teachings.
