From the Executive Principal's Desk

Dear Parents/Guardians

As we approach a significant milestone in the life of our College, there is a sense that we are moving into a new season as a Christian community. At the start of next year, our Heatherton campus reaches the age of 25 and our Wyndham campus is 5 years old.

In addition to the celebrations that will take place at our respective campuses, we will also experience a name change, with the College as a whole becoming known as Christway College. Any kind of change can be a challenging and unsettling thing to experience but we can be confident that God, our creator and Father, never changes. Through the turbulent times of our lives, God is with us and loves us. When we look back on the last 25 years of the College, we can see the evidence of God’s hand at work through many challenges and the successes that we have all experienced. Looking forward into a new season is more difficult as we can never know what the future holds for us and the obstacles in our path. But although the future may be a bit like looking into a dense fog on the road ahead of us, we need not fear because God has accompanied us in times past to the present day and never left our side.

There is another way to look ahead into that uncertain future. When we know with conviction that God “has got this”, we can actually be very excited about what lies ahead of us. I hope you are as excited as I am about the future of Christway College.

One tangible example of this from my perspective is the re-launch of the Year 12 Overseas Mission trip. Later this year, after VCE exams are finished, a team of Year 12 students and staff will be heading to Fiji to stay with a couple of church communities in Suva and Sigatoka and will participate in outreach activities as well as enjoy some significant cultural experiences. Just last week, Mr Chris Simmons and I spent a few days in Fiji planning the trip with the lead pastors of these communities and it promises to be an amazing experience for our students. Moreover, I am very excited about the new and flourishing connections that will be forged this year and, in the years to come with our new friends in Fiji. I believe God is doing something special and I can’t wait to see the fruit of this and future mission trips to Fiji.

This is just one thing to get excited about. But I am convinced that there are so many more that we don’t even know about yet as we head into this new season for the College and follow in the footsteps of our saviour Jesus.

Grace and Peace
