Principal's Desk

Dear Parents,

Last week was a time of transition in our Parish community. As a staff we took the opportunity to express our thanks and gratitude to Fr Mark Reynolds as our Parish Priest  for the past three years, including the dreaded Covid years. We are extremely grateful for Fr Mark’s faith leadership and for ensuring that HT is very much part of the life of our Parish in Scoresby. We wish Fr Mark well in his new role as Parish Priest of St Clement of Rome in Bulleen and his additional responsibilities within MACS and the Archdiocese. At the same time we also bid farewell to Elisa Kelesidis, Parish Coordinator at St Jude's Parish Office. We are grateful for Elisa's high level of organisation and welcoming presence over recent years and wish her well in her new role at Aquinas College.

Our Year 6 students warmly welcomed Fr Jerald Mariadas last Wednesday, our new Parish Priest, when he visited them during their Confirmation preparation day. It was Fr Jerald’s very first day in the Parish and he wanted to meet the students ahead of their reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation the following day. As a school community we would like to warmly welcome Fr Jerald and look forward to working with him in the years to come.

I would like to congratulate our Year 6 students who were fully initiated into the Catholic Church through the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Fr Tony Kerin, Episcopal Vicar for the Eastern Region, confirmed these students and encouraged them to use their gifts as `super powers’ to make a difference in our world. It was an opportune time for our new Parish Priest, Fr Jerald, to meet our families and witness the commitment of our Year 6 students to spread the Good News through the gifts of the Spirit as God’s presence in our world.

We would like to once again thank their parents, Godparents and Sponsors for their ongoing support in their journey of faith. Our hope is that the gifts of the Holy Spirit inspire them to be spirit filled people who can make a difference in our world.
