Science
The Science Experience is a nationwide STEM outreach program for students in Year 9 and 10.
Each program is designed to provide students who have an interest in science with an opportunity to engage in a wide range of fascinating science activities under the guidance of scientists who love their work.
There are three upcoming programs in NSW:
Macquarie University: 4-6 October 2023
Meet passionate scientists and get hands-on with science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
University of Technology, Sydney: 26-28 September 2023
Various hands-on and fun science, maths and technology activities.
University of New England: 16-18 January 2024 (for students in Year 10 and 11 in 2024)
You will immerse yourself in a world of science, see their science facilities, learn from leading scientists and participate in various workshops. (Students will be able to stay in one of UNE's colleges on campus - accommodation and meals are an additional cost.)
The cost for the programs are as follows:
1 day program: $72.00

Year 10 Photography and Digital Media Excursion
Last Friday the Year 10 photography and digital media class spent a day out in Sydney capturing a photographic journalism assignment.
It was a beautiful day out in Sydney Harbour! We walked over the Harbour Bridge, visited the MCA in Circular Quay, then jumped on a ferry to Cockatoo Island.
Students captured the beauty and history of Sydney with analogue and digital cameras, and we are now looking forward to developing photographs in the darkroom back at the college.
Fergus Fung (Year 11)
Portrait painting of Anthony Bourdain – celebrity chef (acrylic on canvas).
Fergus received an honourable mention for the Young Archies earlier in this year and has gone onto paint yet another extraordinary portrait.
Fergus is motivated, creative and loves to paint! He is fascinated by Bourdain’s immersion in different cultures as seen in his TV show ‘Parts Unknown’, as well as Rembrandt’s dramatic painting style. Exploring portraiture has continued to become a real interest to Fergus.

Bastille Day Celebration
On Monday morning at the college students celebrated a belated Bastille Day “La Fête Nationale” (14 July). Students enjoyed music from an accordionist serenading them in the foyer with some lovely French Musette tunes.
The ground and courtyard were decorated all in “Bleu, Blanc, Rouge” (Blue, White and Red) to go along with the celebration of the day.
French language class students gave a Bastille presentation at Assembly followed by these classes feasting on freshly made crêpes with Simon and Margaux.
Thank you to Lukas Maio our accordionist player as well as Crêpes Mademoiselle for their delicious crêpes.
Our Bastille Day presentation also launched French Club at the college. Students with an interest in all things French can join the meeting at Lunch in A6 on Wednesdays, Day 3, for activities such as cooking, films making, games, cartoons, and music.
