A busy Term 3

This term seems to have flown by very quickly, and there have been a number of highlights.

I am very pleased with the ongoing development of our Flexible Learning Intervention Program (FLIP) pilot at Richmond. The program is working towards providing better supported learning opportunities for students who have found accessing the core curriculum challenging. The school is investing much in the way of both human resources and physical resources as it further develops and refines the program. FLIP has already seen success in increased positive interactions between staff and students, which helps build opportunities for learning. I encourage all students  engaged in FLIP to provide continued input and feedback to help further develop their individualised programs.

This term has given me the opportunity to work with colleagues in the teaching of the Advance Program at Richmond. It has been a rewarding experience working with students and teachers to discuss, design and organise excursions and activities. The Teaching & Learning page of this newsletter provides further information and some recent images of the Advance Program.

It was wonderful to welcome some of our prospective 2024 Year 7 students for an orientation morning on the 31st August.

Open Nights

As a way of celebrating the good work that has been taking place across our Richmond and Coburg campuses, we will be holding an Open Night at each site in the final week of this term.

The Open Nights will provide parents/carers and opportunity to connect face-to-face with their child's teachers and will also welcome the parents/carers of prospective students and give members of the broader community and opportunity to see our school facilities and to meet our staff. I'm personally looking forward to talking with those in attendance about our school and the exciting current and future projects we are undertaking.

Richmond Campus Open Night: Tuesday, 12th September, 5pm ~ 7pm

Coburg Campus Open Night: Wednesday, 13th September, 5pm ~ 7pm

Please use the following booking form to indicate your attendance at one or both of the Open Nights: Booking Form.

Campus name change recommendation

Recently, we have been discussing changing our official campus names to ensure they meet expected requirements of campus naming conventions and are more easily understood. Following consultation with a range of stakeholders, our school council has endorsed the recommendation of the buildings and grounds subcommittee of the following campus names;

Lynall Hall Community School - Coburg campus

(replacing "The Island" campus)

Lynall Hall Community School - Richmond campus

(replacing "The Main" campus / "Lynall Hall" campus), and

Lynall Hall Community School - Richmond House campus

(replacing "the Annex" campus, "Number One" campus)

These will now be proposed for approval by the Minister of Education, hoping for implementation at the beginning of 2024.
