UniMelb | e-Meet a Biomedical Scientist 2023

We want to celebrate National Science Week by connecting our University of Melbourne Biomedical Scientists with Victorian high school students. The opportunity to talk to our Biomedical Researchers is one of a kind, given they work at the centre of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest biomedical precinct!
During 20- to 30-minute video calls, our experts – many of whom are global leaders in their research field – will help you to inspire the next generation of Biomedical Scientists.
Students in Years 9–12 from across metropolitan, regional and rural schools are invited to ask questions about:
- What it’s like to make a major scientific discovery?
- How it feels to change the course of a person’s health – and life?
- What career pathways are available for budding young Biomedical Scientists?
- What are the latest technologies available in modern-day, cutting-edge science laboratories?
- And much more.
The School of Biomedical Sciences will work with you to “match-make” our Biomedical experts with participating school classes in the week prior to National Science Week so that meetings can ideally take place during National Science week itself – Monday, 14 to Friday, 18 August.

- providing electricity to a city
- creating an environmentally friendly house.
Points are awarded based on performance and the school with the highest score at the end of the day is the winner. Qualifying schools may go on to compete at a state final, and eight winning schools from around Australia are invited to compete at a 1-day national final each year.
Business Cadetships in Melbourne
Business Cadets combine study at the university of their choice in Melbourne with paid work at UBS Melbourne. UBS is a leading global investment bank. The firm has been placing cadets in Melbourne over the last seven years (and in Sydney for the last seventeen years).
This year, Melbourne cadet placement is in Global Research. Cadets are able to rotate through different business areas, enabling them to discover what they are really interested in and to tailor their degree accordingly. You will work alongside world-class professionals and be well remunerated.
As a cadet, you may choose from a wide range of degrees at your university in Melbourne, including economics, commerce, business, computer science & technology, mathematics and the humanities.
It is also possible to study some combined degrees.
By studying and working at a leading company from the start of university, cadets earn a competitive advantage over students who delay work until after university. Only current Year 12 students can apply so this is your once-in-a-lifetime chance to take advantage of an unparalleled opportunity!
Check out the profiles of Melbourne Cadets on our website and have a look at the video we made earlier this year on the Sydney Program: www.businesscadetships.com.au
Applications for the Business Cadetships in Melbourne Program are made online and are open now.
Applications close on Wednesday, 16 August 2023. By this date, both your Application Form and School Assessment are due in.
