Dear OSHC and school families,
We have been having a good work out digging and wheel barrowing sand to the new sandpit and long jump area. I put word out about forming a Sustainable group, that involves families and the children. I have been conducting survey's about what the children would like at the entrance to OSHC and our veggie/fruit garden, here is what they suggested so far, Students' names in alphabetical order just for fun!
Here is what our new 'Environmental Action Groups' first ideas were:
Alex. M: 'A mini roller-coaster!'
Angela: 'A gazebo!'
Ashley: re-veggie garden, 'A fruit side and a veggie side!'
Dakota: 'A wooden gazebo with fairy lights and a covered area in the veggie garden.'
Joanne: 'A blossom tree, archways and fairy lights!'
Lachlan. F: 'Vines, growing and hanging!'
Lilian: 'Sunflowers and tulips.'
Max: 'Plants, dirt, take the rest of sand to new sandpit area and fairy lights!'
Mila: 'Roses and herbs.'
Naia: An arch way, long lasting flowering plants, boarders around footpath with lots of flowers!'
Nian: 'Mini roller-coaster!'
Olivia: 'I think more flowers... oh and rosemary.'
Sivan: 'Flower garden, herb garden, I've got some seeds I can bring!' (Thanks Sivan!)
Rose: 'Cubby house.'
Ruby: 'Veggie patch with carrots and lettuce.'
Will. K: 'Pillow fortress and a slide!' Or a roller-coaster and a work bench'.
Thanks to all the students that have helped us dig, they are a super enthusiastic bunch!
I've already noticed the change it's made to the footpath!
Well Done everyone!
We are collecting ideas from everyone for our community garden. Feel free to give us some ideas too! I am signing up as a member to Bellfield Community Garden to learn more about how to run 'Bio-cubes' (Like a raised garden bed that self waters) and just general veggie gardening. So we can have take-home herbs, fruits and veggies and cuttings to share with families. Oh and don't forget lots of flowers and roller-coasters too!
