Diverse Learning

This week in Diverse Learning I had the privilege of collecting the final round of Oliphant Science Awards projects for delivery to the Wayville Showgrounds for judging. This is the third year that Pilgrim has participated in this competition with twelve project entries from students across the school including crystal investigations, scientific writing, models and inventions, posters and photography. Mr Harris and the students in Year 3/4H entered into the Citizen Science category’s new whole-class investigation. Final round judging took place this week, with prize winning entries on display at Science Alive this weekend. If you are interested in an interactive, fun family day of science and technology, tickets can be purchased via the link below.

This week also saw 18 students from Year 3-6 participate in the Australian Maths Competition. This is the first year that Pilgrim has participated in this competition providing our keenest mathematicians with a chance to extend their thinking and problem-solving skills.

Scientific and Mathematical thinking are skills used in many facets of daily life and help us better understand the wonders and creation of the awesome universe we live in. Well done to everyone who participated this year. I look forward to seeing even more entries in 2024!

Kind regards,
