FOUNDATION - AROUND THE TRAPS

Diana Rinaldi

It has been so lovely being back at school this week. I am so proud of all the students as they handled last week so well! Big thank you to parents for all your help. I am so grateful for your support and positive feedback. I feel so lucky teaching this class! The Google Meets were fantastic and our last day of dress-up was a great way to finish off!

Literacy

Our shared text is one that the students are very familiar with - Mrs Wishy Washy! We read this book back on our first orientation day last year! This time we can dig a little deeper to help in our reading groups and writing. We will also focus on the letter w as in wishy-washy and the ig word family because of the pig in the story. We love onset and rime work! We are working with the rime ig and changing the initial sound to make new words likefig, dig, big, wig.

Maths

In maths this week we are continuing our practice of counting. We are using the language of ‘one more’ and ‘one less’ in a fun game and we will also see what this looks like on a number line. We will play this game again to deepen the children’s understanding and learn a strategy as they will need to choose ‘one more’ or ‘one less’ to get 5 numbers in a row on the game board.

Religious Education (RE)

In Religious Education, Foundation has continued learning about being followers of Jesus. We had the story of Jesus curing the 10 lepers. He had compassion for anyone in need. Jesus always wants us to treat others with love and compassion.
