Topaz Community
On the 10th of May, Topaz were lucky enough to have an Inquiry Incursion. During this time we had Lisa a Koorie Educational Support Officer speak to the students about Aboriginal culture and we even got to see and touch a variety of Aboriginal artefacts. This incursion supports our current Inquiry topic as we are learning about ‘The First People of Australia’.
Topaz Community went to see different artefacts and learn more about Australia. I enjoyed when I got to touch the different Aboriginal items. There was kangaroo fur, possum fur and different instruments. – Ninzen Singh
I learned that they chew and thread to make kangaroo blankets. I learned that a tool can vibrate and make sound when it spins around in the air. I enjoyed when we took turns to touch the items. I enjoyed when Topaz went to the Inquiry incursion. It was a lot of fun. – Ethan Lima Dos Santos
It was very fun and interesting to listen and feel things. Getting to listen to the message sender was very cool because when they spin it at a different speed/rate the pitch goes higher and lower, although we did not get to feel it. The fur of the possum, kangaroo and wombat blankets felt very very soft. It also felt like I could steal it and cuddle it forever. The people who were there teaching to us used such descriptive language. I could have sat for hours and hours because it was so interesting. When I got to feel the wood it felt very strong. The texture on the side of the wood felt smooth while the outside was rough and bumpy. – Rylan Duncan
