NAPLAN 2021

On Tuesday this week we completed the NAPLAN testing for 2021.

We would like to congratulate all our Year 3 and 5 students on how prepared and committed they were to their NAPLAN assessments. Remember this program has great value but is a snapshot of how our students did on one day of the year. We know that our students are dedicated to their learning and continue to learn and grow throughout the year.

How to Be Happy

The art of making yourself happy is something we can all learn and practice. No one is happy 100% of the time. Life has its ups and downs. Even so there are some sure fire ways to increase your happiness. The following article by Andrew Fuller talks about ways of making the most of life and seeking happiness.

Français à l'école

In French over the next two terms in all grades are working on learning high frequency language through French plays. The children are enjoying becoming familiar with the characters in their plays and learning language that is used both in the plays and during our days. So you may start hearing about la Poule Maboule or La Loup Fou Fou or even your child asking you, Aïe ! Qu'est-ce qui se passe ?

You may wish to ask your child about the characters they are starting to learn about following are the plays the different levels will be studying over the next two terms;

PrepLa Poule Maboule

Year 1/2 (Year B)Le Chat et La Lune

Year 3/4 (Year B)Boucles Violettes et les trois ours

Year 5/6 (Year B)Où est Mon Chien?

As part of our French program we collect data on student language acquisition using an online assessment program called Speak Up! and this data is submitted and tracked in at the Catholic Education Office. The children in Grades 3 to 6 will do further work on this next week. We have a languages coach visiting in a couple of weeks to observe the lessons in the classrooms and discuss our data.

Have a wonderful weekend.
