Year 8 at Shelford

The experience of Year 8 students at Shelford

As we approach the middle of Year 8, our primary school days are well behind us. Our teachers have the important role of developing our knowledge and skills within each subject; to assist us in analysing our thinking through a range of techniques. The teaching is more intentional and focused on identifying opportunities within each class to build understanding in Year 8. We have been encouraged to ask questions, and not be afraid to make mistakes.

Our teachers also play an equally important role in developing us as young women. The classroom is established as a safe space where kindness, honesty but also hard work are encouraged. For me, these opportunities are critical as it creates a culture of trust within the Shelford community. Within these conditions, we are able to both learn the curriculum and develop lifelong skills.
