Boyzread is back, and better than ever
Boyzread is on again in 2021. Boyzread was formed about ten years ago to inspire our boys to read more – it has been a great success and has matured to become a leadership group open to readers from Years 7 to 12. Our motto is: “Readers are Leaders.” Students are constantly involved in planning our program, finding new ways to inspire each other as well as all readers of the St Bede’s College community. In the past we have reached out to connect beyond the College community, making good connections with other Catholic schools.
A special feature of Boyzread, is regular visits – from staff within the College and others beyond including virtual visits. In Term one Mrs Wilkinson came along as our Mystery Teacher. She inspired the boys to read more through an author presentation with Mark Smith, a former student of St Bede’s College.
Mr John Finn has honoured us as official Bookclub Patron – the Boyz were excited to welcome him to visit us during Term 2 so that we could discuss with him our opinions about books and reading and share some of our favourite reads. Many thanks to Mrs Wilkinson and Mr Finn for their invaluable support.
