OLYMPIC CHANGE MAKER AWARD

Earlier this year we successfully nominated Matthew Day and Monique Andjelic (Year 11 students) for the 2021 Olympic Change Maker Award. This award recognises young people who have demonstrated the Olympic spirit, this can take the form of major projects to small examples of daily positivity.

Both Matthew and Monique are fantastic ambassadors of the Olympic spirit through their involvement in Sport activities both within the school and in the wider community.

After the nomination process they were invited to create a video application to be selected for the Olympic Change Maker National Summit.

The National Summit brings together 24 successful change makers from the whole of Australia to work together alongside Olympians and the Australian Olympic Committee to shape the future of the Olympic movement in Australia, offering their thoughts and ideas on real life scenarios the AOC is currently working with. The Summit will provide a platform for change makers to share their unique backgrounds, experiences and present their ideas which will benefit people in their own communities and across the country.

Both Matthew and Monique submitted excellent videos that showcased their inspiring involvement within Sport and the Community, and I am proud to announce that Matthew has been successfully selected to attend the National Summit in December. Unfortunately this year the Summit will be a virtual event, comprising of online workshops, but this is still an amazing opportunity to shape the future of the Olympic Movement and share ideas with fellow change makers and Olympians.

Well done to both students who are exemplary members of the school and local community.
