CAMPS AND EXCURSIONS

(GUESS WHERE TEACHER ASKS PARENT VOLUNTEERS TO SIT ON THE BUS....;-)

We're conscious our children have missed out on a number of experiences in the past few years, so we're aiming to get all children to participate in a major excursion before the end of this year. Our senior and middle school children have excursions coming up soon (see below) - and of course, we have big plans for our junior school too!

 

The current waves of illnesses are doing their level best to complicate and hamper our efforts. For example, the bus company taking the 3-4 kids to Sovereign Hill has been hit with a shortage of drivers, and the proposed zoo excursion for the juniors is hanging under a cloud due to, of all things, the threat of foot & mouth disease which will see the possible closure of some exhibits at some zoos. Nothing seems easy anymore, but we will prevail and get all our kids out and about!

 

GRADE 5-6 EXCURSION TO SCIENCE WORKS

This activity took place on Wednesday 3rd August and went very well. Thanks to the grade 5-6 team with planning and conducting a very successful event!

 

GRADE 3-4 EXCURSION TO SOVEREIGN HILL

Unfortunately recently postponed due to staff shortages with the bus contractor but the new planned date is 31st August.

 

P-2 EXCURSION TO BALLARAT WILDLIFE PARK

We are currently finalising plans to take all P-2 children to Ballarat Wildlife Park on Wednesday 14th September.

 

CAMPS IN 2023

It's probably fortunate our camps program was not conducted this year as many schools are finding Covid and other illnesses are continuing to impact on camps with  students not attending due illness, or camps closing due to staff illness. I am hopeful the current waves of illness will be well and truly behind us by next March when our camp program will commence.

  • GRADE 5-6: DON BOSCO CAMP AT SAFETY BEACH: 20th - 22nd March 2023.
  • GRADE 3-4: LADY NORTHCOTE CAMP AT GLENMORE: 12th-13th October 2023.
  • GRADE 2:  BENDIGO DISCOVERY CENTRE OVERNIGHT CAMP: Date TBC.
  • GRADES 1: 'NIGHT SCHOOL' OVERNIGHT CAMP HERE AT SCHOOL: Date TBC.
  • PREP: Preps usually don't stay away overnight as many are not ready for that experience. Usually, preps attend the 'night school' activity and stay for games and dinner then head home with mum and dad. Grade ones can stay on for the night.
