GRADE 1-2 UPDATE

Hello Grade 1 and 2 Community,

For Reading this week we viewed ‘Mouse for Sale’, a short animation which told the tale of finding commonalities with others. Students responded to ‘here, hidden and head’ questions, making inferences and connections to parts of the story.

For Writing, the students investigated simple and compound sentences. It was fantastic to see students find success structuring diverse sentences. To generate ideas, students explored the school environment and sourced objects to inspire their writing. It was interesting to see the students make place based connections in their writing.

This week in Maths the students relished playing ‘Build a Beetle’ and ‘Groups of Snap’. Both games build fluency in seeing number patterns and reasoning mathematically. The students modelled sharing objects within the classroom, effectively using the terms ‘sharing’, ‘groups of’ and ‘altogether’.

Upcoming events/reminders:

  • We once again want to thank all our families for their support in ensuring reading is practised nightly.
  • Each day we have 2 fruit/vegetable breaks. Some students have been mentioning that they are hungry during this time but don’t have enough. It would be greatly appreciated if you could please pack a little extra.
  • Wednesdays are our library day. Please ensure students are bringing their library books to school on this day.

Have a lovely weekend,

Lauren & Demy
