OSHC News Week 10

COVID-19

It is important that we are prepared for the possibility of confirmed cases of COVID-19 at an Education and Care service, including OSHC services.

For the safety of our community and the wider public, SA Health has advised the following measures to support the containment of COVID-19. These measures build on our previous protocols and are based on the advice of SA Health and Commonwealth agencies.

It’s very important that you become familiar with and follow this advice. The advice will continue to be updated as the situation develops.

Current advice on self-isolation and staying at home:

In-line with Commonwealth advice, the current advice from SA Health for parents, children and staff is:

  • Any child or staff member who has travelled in or transited through mainland China, Iran, South Korea or Italy must self-isolate for 14 days after leaving the high risk country.
  • Close contacts of a confirmed case of COVID-19 must self-isolate for 14 days since last contact with the confirmed case.
  • All returned travellers who develop symptoms (especially fever and cough) within 14 days of returning from anywhere overseas should seek testing for COVID-19, and self-isolate while awaiting test results.
  • Any confirmed case of COVID-19 will be excluded from school/ childcare/ the workplace until they are medically cleared to return.
  • Children and staff who have returned to Australia from anywhere else overseas and have no symptoms are able to return to education and care service, school or work.

Hygiene standards:

Personal hygiene and the hygiene standards in our services are critical to reducing the risk of infection.

All children and staff must be encouraged to:

  • wash their hands regularly, particularly after using the toilet and before eating
  • avoid spreading infections to others by staying home if they are unwell
  • cover a cough or sneeze with a tissues

Term 1 Newsletter

Please see the attachment below for this term's OSHC  newsletter.

OSHC Menu

Unfortunately due to shopping restrictions and limited supplies on some food goods the service will need to modify the OSHC menu. Please find any menu changes on the OSHC notice board located outside the OSHC room.

My Time Our Place

OSHC has been quieter over the past two weeks which has seen the children participating in outdoor play such as chasey on the playground and gymnastics and soccer on the oval. Indoors the children have spent time participating in health focused activities such as why it’s important to wash our hands and personal space bubbles.

April Vacation Care Booklet

The April Vacation Care booklet has been adjusted in accordance to COVID 19 restrictions and is available from the front office, the OSHC room and online.

Pupil Free Days

The service is operating on all pupil free days during week 11 for all families. Please contact the director if you require care for any of these days. No cancellations will be accepted in accordance with the cancellation policy.

Medications

If your child requires medication please ensure that you have provided an action plan as well as the medication (asthma pump, epipen etc.) to the service. It is vital that we have access to your child’s medication at our service whilst your child is attending.

Hats

As part of our sun safety policy all children are required to wear a hat if they are playing outside. Please remind your child/children to bring their hats from their classroom if they are attending the service.

Absentees

A reminder to all parents and caregivers to contact the service on 8443 5308 if their child(ren) are no longer attending their sessions or have been collected early from school.

Active After School: If your child is going to attend an after school activity please notify the service in advance. If our Educators have not been notified by parents/caregivers the children will be unable to leave the service.

Dietary Requirements

At our service we aim to cater to children’s needs as much as possible, however, if your child has specific dietary requirements or does not like the food programmed for the day please pack an alternative snack or drop off food alternatives at the service.
