Update

What a hectic and uncertain end to Term 1 we have experienced. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the exceptional commitment and flexibility our staff have shown. They have continued to provide high quality teaching and learning  to students at home and at school. Their dedication is to be admired and celebrated.

Thank you also to all our families for their support and flexibility as we navigate through these uncertain times and develop our Online Learning Platform. We have received an overwhelming amount of emails from families thanking us and this support is greatly appreciated.

Term 2

Term 2 is a little uncertain at the moment and we are unsure what teaching and learning will fully look like. We do know at this stage that some students will be learning from home and some from school. How many is still unknown. As a school we are in a wonderful position with our Online Learning Platform and we will adapt to whatever is presented to us in the coming weeks.

Education is going to look vastly different to what it has before. Learning is not going to replicate the face to face teaching and learning that would normally be happening in schools. Teachers will be using a variety of methods to deliver teaching and learning that is both engaging and stimulating for our students.

Students that are here at school will be following the same online learning program that students at home will be doing.

Whether learning from home or learning from school, we are here to support families through this. We are still your child’s educators, the structure and delivery of learning are just different.

Online Home Learning vs Home Schooling

We want to reassure carers at home that home learning is not ‘Home Schooling’. Home Schooling is where parents are responsible for creating and delivering a curriculum to their children. It is a conscious choice by parents and involves rigorous planning and an application/accreditation process here in Australia.

Home Learning is where teachers are providing the curriculum, resources and guidance to parents, who are supporting this learning from home.

Online Learning Platform

LNPS staff are continuing to develop our GSuite Online Learning Platform ready for implementation on Day 1 Term 2.

The Pupil Free Days next week are vital as we continue to collaborate as a whole school and in  Year Level Teams to ensure consistency and continuity of teaching and learning.

On Tuesday 7th April all teachers will be providing communication to parents/families regarding specifics with our GSuite Online Learning Platform ready for Day 1 Term 2.

This will include providing specific schedules and timetables as necessary to support online learning and  is different for every year level.

Once you receive this communication if you have any questions please contact class teachers or leadership.

Please note that processes and delivery may change, but we will communicate this with everyone in a timely manner.

Learning at Home or School

Please indicate via this survey as to whether your child/ren will be attending school at the beginning of Term 2.  The survey is open until Friday 3rd April at 12 pm.

There will be a follow up survey next week as the situation we are faced with is ever changing.

Our Learning SA

Across the state, the Department for Education  have also been working on building resources for both schools and families to support online learning. This resource has a variety of resources arranged in curriculum areas as well as advice for children and families on learning from home.

Please take care over the next few weeks and if you have any questions please contact the school or send an email and we will respond as quickly as possible.

Friday Dismissal

Dismissal on Friday 3rd April 2020 is as per normal, 3.10pm.

Term 1 Additional Pupil Free Days

The government has approved four additional Pupil Free Days next week, April 6th-9th 2020 which will lead us into the school holiday period.

These days are crucial in allowing time for teachers to be well prepared for next terms learning and will operate as all other pupil free days, where students do not attend and there will be no learning program offered. For families, this effectively means 3 weeks of school holidays.

OSHC will be open and available during these four days and Vacation Care will be available during the holiday break as per normal.

Term 2 Pupil Free Day

Monday May 4th, week 2 term 2, has been approved by Governing Council as a Pupil Free Day.

This Pupil Free Day will still go ahead where teachers will be engaged in professional learning. No learning program will be offered on this day but OSHC will be open.
