Netballers face off in friendly contest

The end of Term 2 saw an energetic group of St Mary's College netballers join forces with students from five other southern Tasmanian Catholic primary schools when they participated in the STCPSSA round-robin.

The excellent display of sports-womanship across all teams, including the eight SMC Year 5-6 teams, made for a wonderful day filled with spirited matches, joy and new friendships.

A special thank you to Year 11 students, Samantha and Laura for helping with umpiring (nice work!), our parent volunteers, teacher cheer squad and teacher/Deputy Director Junior School, Glynis Devereux who umpired all day and certainly got her steps up!

Luckily she absolutely loves netball and wouldn’t have it any other way! Well done to all players.

Congratulations, cross country runners!

Team SMC.

The College is so proud of our dedicated runners who took part in the Tasmanian All Schools Cross Country at Symmons Plains on Tuesday 28 June.

Despite the challenging conditions, SMC team spirit was blazing bright, and all runners showed great resilience and determination in the face of some strong competition.

To top off an excellent day, the College recorded the following stellar results.

A big congratulations to Alet Le Grange (Year 8), who placed 3rd in the U15 Girls Age Group and Jess Smith (Year 9), who powered home to finish 2nd in the U16 Age Group. A fabulous effort and job well done by all!
