Curriculum at BHS

We take pride in the breadth and depth of our teaching and learning program at Ballarat High School. We offer a range of subjects for students to study at all year levels. The subjects offered across the curriculum areas often change in response to advancement in technology, career pathways, curriculum changes and above all else, student interests.

At Year 9, students undertake studies in their core classes and choose up to 8 electives from a list of 52 subjects. There are 4 new subjects offered for 2023, including Germany at War, Film studies, Science Academy & STEM Engineering under pressure.

We encourage students to choose subjects from a range of curriculum areas so they trial as many subjects and pathways as possible.
