Harry Potter Day
On Monday 1st August we celebrated Harry Potter Day, as his birthday in the books is 31st July.
We had a book display complete with some Harry Potter paraphernalia – including a “dementor” and a teddy dressed up as Harry Potter. We had a paper-based "Name this Creature" quiz which was won by brother and sister Anita and Ramon B. We also ran a team-based "Wizarding World" lunchtime quiz. The 39 students who took part were divided into 4 teams, named after the 4 positions played in a Quidditch match. Chasers won with very fast fingers on the buzzer, though it seems the answers to most questions were known by all teams.
Well done to everyone who participated. It was great to see the students enjoying themselves and being good sports throughout. All participants got a lolly and members of the winning team also got a chocolate.
Science Week
It was Science Week this week and the Library partnered with the Science faculty to put on a few activities and a wonderful window and book display. On Tuesday lunchtime, 3 Kahoot trivia quizzes were held in the Library Classroom.
Winners, second and third place-getters of each round won a small box of smarties and the overall winners were awarded a large box. The winning team consisted of Georgia W, Seth W and Finn R. Well done to everyone who respectfully participated in all 3 quizzes. It was great to hear how much some of our students enjoyed both flexing their scientific minds and learning new facts.
Yesterday and concluding today, we are showing the documentary “Carbon: the unauthorised biography” in the Library Classroom.
